Once he had it all. He was the one to watch, the new kid on the block, a true contender...

Was it overreaching ambition? Naivety? Hubris? Whatever the reason, the end came quickly.

There were the personal scandals, the financial irregularities - and then the final blow, allegations of tonic misuse. His manager disappeared like a thief in the night and it was all over.

Barred from competing for 5 years, his perfect record - 10 wins, no losses, 5 KOs - was wiped from the official record. He was washed up.

But now he's back - and he's hungry for the fight. A new chapter then. Comeback King or Punchbag Pawn? You're the new manager.
You decide.

The Comeback King is a work in progress. If you've stumbled onto it by accident - welcome, but please bear in mind it's not currently finished, especially in terms of general aesthetics. There's also at present only one boxer animation.

Music and SFX from Epidemic Sound, Pond5, Soundly, GameDev.

The current version contains placeholder AI artwork which will be replaced by non-AI assets in the future (and before release).

This game is a rewrite of 'Boxing Manager', which I wrote about 40 years ago for the Spectrum 48k. You can still play it on an emulator - the ROM for the original Willysoft UK release is here:

I'm sure the judges were being scrupulously fair! :D

Let me know which instructions were useful - it helps me formulate hints and tips in the game.
